Patient's question:
I have had my menstrual cycle twice a month for over a year. I have been married for a year but have not been able to conceive. During this time, I have taken many medications to regulate my period. Some doctors said it was due to tubal bleeding and prescribed Fertilex, which I took for several months, but it didn't help. Is this condition preventing me from getting pregnant? I really hope to have a baby. Please give me some good advice.Additionally, I have had an ultrasound which showed that my uterus is slightly smaller, but everything else was normal. I also had an estrogen test, which was normal, but my period still comes every half month.
Doctor's answer:
Hello: This may be ovulatory bleeding. In this case, whether it will have a certain impact on fertility is difficult to determine.
Below is some information about ovulatory bleeding.
During the mid-cycle, i.e., the ovulation period, due to a temporary decline in estrogen levels, the endometrium loses hormonal support, leading to partial shedding of the endometrium and resulting in regular vaginal bleeding, which is known as ovulatory bleeding. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is referred to as "intermenstrual bleeding."
Treatment
1. Western medicine treatment: Diethylstilbestrol 0.25–0.5 mg/day, starting 3 days before ovulation and stopping 2–3 days after the bleeding stops.
2. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: Liuwei Dihuang Wan, Gujing Wan, and Xuefu Zhuyu Wan.
Prevention and Care
1. Pay attention to menstrual and postpartum health care, maintain external genital hygiene, and prevent pelvic infection.
2. Keep a calm mood and avoid excessive stress.
