Will inserting miconazole suppositories into the vagina damage the hymen?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: suffering from candidiasis (yeast infection)
Duration of this episode and current duration: one week
Current general condition: The doctor prescribed nystatin suppositories, which have not yet been used

Doctor's answer:

Hello: As is well known, the hymen is a thin membrane covering the vaginal opening in unmarried girls. It has a small hole, which is mostly crescent-shaped or oval, called the hymen aperture. The size of the hole varies from person to person, ranging from less than 1 centimeter to about 1.5 centimeters in diameter. After a girl reaches puberty, her vaginal secretions and monthly menstruation are expelled through this hymen aperture. Therefore, although the vagina of an unmarried girl is protected by the hymen, it is not completely isolated from the outside world, and this small hymen aperture is precisely the entry point for the girl to contract candidiasis. Recent analyses have shown that candidiasis in unmarried girls is closely related to changes in the vaginal and external environment.
These fungi are mostly acquired through bathtubs, foot baths, bath towels, towels, and other items. In normal girls, the vagina contains a type of vaginal rod-shaped bacteria that can break down glucose in vaginal epithelial cells into lactic acid, maintaining a certain acidity in the vagina. This helps to balance and regulate the relationship between vaginal rod-shaped bacteria and fungi, thus causing no symptoms. However, if a girl develops diabetes, the amount of glucose in her vagina increases, and the acidity also rises significantly. This change in the acidic environment of the vagina is highly conducive to the rapid growth of fungi, leading to candidiasis in unmarried girls.
If an unmarried girl contracts candidiasis, she should neither panic nor feel ashamed and should seek medical treatment. With the current level of medical care, this condition can be completely cured. During treatment, a 3% sodium bicarbonate solution is used to rinse the external genitalia, and then a rubber catheter is inserted into the hymen aperture.
