Features: The era we are living in is one of rapid development and change. From the perspective of the world economy, economic globalization is accelerating, and a new world order is taking shape. From the perspective of the domestic economy, our country has undergone more than 20 years of reform and development, resulting in significant changes in both the economic system and economic life. From the perspective of the development of economic science itself, new ideas, theories, and branches of economics are constantly enriching our understanding and comprehension of real-life situations. However, all of these developments and changes have yet to be fully reflected in our textbooks, and our teaching methods cannot fully adapt to this progress. It can be said that the times call for more updated and better economics textbooks. To meet the needs of teaching and a broad readership, we have compiled this series of books. Since the authors are primarily lecturers from Peking University and Tsinghua University, this series embodies the concept of "Learning Economics at Peking University and Tsinghua University." When compiling this series, we focused on the following points: First, it reflects the new developments in economic science. Not only is the structure arranged to include new branches such as environmental economics, network economics, and knowledge economics, but the content also reflects the latest achievements in economic development. Second, the content presentation should be both comprehensive, systematic, and scientific, yet accessible and easy to understand, striving to express profound theories in simple language. Third, it is essential to balance the relationship between editing and authorship. This series not only incorporates the latest achievements in domestic and international economic research and teaching (i.e., "editing") but also combines the authors' teaching and research practices and achievements, as well as their understanding of real economic life (i.e., "authorship"). Without extensive research ("editing"), it would be difficult to broaden readers' perspectives and grasp the essence of the field; without a foundation in teaching and research ("authorship"), textbooks would lack soul and become detached from reality. Fourth, attention should be paid to the combination of "cold" and "hot" topics. We require that when discussing "cold" fundamental theoretical issues, the logic and philosophy of real-life situations be reflected; and when addressing "hot" practical issues, readers should find theoretical satisfaction.
