Features: Cities are complex social and historical phenomena and existences, and urban civilization is a symbol of human progress. The development of human civilization shows that urbanization is an irreversible process and trend for humans. The 21st century is the "century of cities," and urban development has become a key factor in the comprehensive development of Chinese society. As early as when formulating the "Tenth Five-Year Plan," the central government clearly stated that "actively and steadily implementing the urbanization strategy is an important task of the strategic adjustment of the economic structure." In 2005, the CPC Central Committee further proposed the development strategy of "promoting the construction of a harmonious socialist society" in the proposal for formulating the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan," and naturally, building a harmonious city became a main content of urban development. As a symbol of human civilization, cities concentrate both the wisdom and achievements of humanity and the contradictions of society and the times. With the acceleration of urbanization, especially as China's economy has entered a critical turning point, urban development in China faces numerous challenges and opportunities. The practical issues raised are becoming more and more, and these issues are related to the overall situation of harmonious urban development. This book mainly explores some issues of urban development in China from the perspective of economic development.
