Features: The editor initiated the th European-Asian International Symposium in Nantes, France, in 1994. The idea was to bring together scholars from around the world who were interested in the economic growth and business opportunities in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region to exchange ideas. It also served as a forum, essentially providing scholars with a platform to present new research findings and share ideas. The symposium was a great success and quickly became an annual event, held successively in France, Ireland, Norway, Japan, and China since 1994. In addition to the conference proceedings, selected articles from past symposiums were published in five international conference proceedings, a special issue of an international academic journal, and numerous articles in academic journals both domestically and internationally. The 11th European-Asian International Symposium was held at Nanchang University in China from May 19 to 21, 2005. The articles selected for this volume are based on the papers presented at this symposium. It can be noted that this year's annual theme focuses heavily on China. However, articles on Europe or the Asia-Pacific region were also included to broaden the perspective, along with studies on issues in other countries (e.g., Japan, France, the Czech Republic, etc.). It is worth mentioning that to reach a broader global readership, some content in this volume is written in three languages—English, French, and Chinese—which is very unique in publishing history!
