Features: "21st Century Economics System Textbooks" were gradually launched through the joint efforts of a large number of teachers from the School of Economics and related financial and economic departments at Renmin University of China. This is one of the important achievements of the school's establishment and development. It is also a significant outcome of Renmin University of China as a national key training base for economics theory talent. This series of textbooks is designated as the exclusive for the "National Economics Theory Talent Training Base." As a landmark textbook of the School of Economics and an important research achievement of the national key training base for economics theory talent, this series adheres to the fundamental theories of Marxist economics while also reflecting the latest research findings in economic theory. It is characterized by its foundation, generality, innovation, and foresight. We hope that the launch of this textbook series will further strengthen the teaching faculty and improve teaching standards. At the same time, we hope that its use will help explore new approaches in teaching and research within the field of economics, contributing further to the development of economics in China. This textbook has the following features: , it systematically elaborates on the background, development process, and rich economic practical foundation of knowledge economics. It discusses how the formation and development of knowledge economics, like other disciplines, have a long history and a strong practical foundation, fully demonstrating the great truth that scientific theories arise from practice. This is an aspect rarely covered in other monographs on knowledge economics. Second, it comprehensively discusses the theoretical framework of knowledge economics. The emergence of knowledge economics is a product of highly developed science and technology and the evolution of human socio-economic activities. The theoretical exploration of knowledge economics began as early as the 1940s, as detailed in Chapter 4 of this book. However, these theories are not the foundational theories of knowledge economics, as they were proposed and developed during the industrial economy era. Their primary purpose was to address the shortcomings of traditional economic theories. Nevertheless, their modes of thinking and considerations provided valuable inspiration for the establishment of knowledge economics theory. Therefore, this book refers to these theories as the theoretical prototypes of knowledge economics. To this end, this textbook systematically introduces 16 research topics that knowledge economics theory should address, in response to the challenges knowledge economics poses to traditional economics. Third, the era of knowledge economics has introduced new dimensions to modern management, namely knowledge management. This textbook systematically covers knowledge management, technology innovation management, and management innovation. Fourth, in the third edition, new knowledge economy case studies have been added, including the development of knowledge economics in Zhongguancun Science Park and a comprehensive analysis of Taiwan's high-tech industry. These case studies fully demonstrate the prospects for high-tech industry development in the knowledge economy era in mainland China and Taiwan. In the compilation of this textbook, we referred to a large number of domestic and international literature on knowledge economics, absorbing some well-established content for concise and essential elaboration. This textbook has been revised and supplemented for the second edition, with outdated content removed, such as the entire case study of Beijing's high-tech industry in Chapter 10, while new content has been added, such as the historical origins of knowledge economics, circular economy, and the development trends of knowledge economics in major developed countries. Additionally, Chapter 10 has been replaced with a new case study on knowledge economics.
