Features: This "Guide" is compiled based on the research achievements and summaries of the Ministry of Transport's Western China Transportation Construction Science and Technology Project "Mastic Emulsion Slurry Seal Maintenance Technology" and the National Economic and Trade Commission's National Technology Innovation Program Project "Expressway Mastic Emulsion Slurry Seal Maintenance Technology." It also incorporates the experience of more than 20 million square meters of microsurfacing overlay projects on expressways in over a dozen provinces and cities such as Shanxi, Sichuan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Hebei since 2000, as well as nearly two decades of experience in the application of slurry seal technology in Henan, Shandong, and Liaoning provinces. Additionally, it references relevant international guidelines. The main content of this "Guide" includes material requirements for microsurfacing and slurry seal, the design methods and steps for slurry mixtures, construction techniques, quality control, and final acceptance. It is intended for use by design, construction, development, supervision, and quality supervision units to ensure the steady improvement of microsurfacing and slurry seal quality. Microsurfacing technology is new to China, and many issues still require further research. Therefore, it is hoped that engineering and technical personnel will closely align the use of this "Guide" with local traffic and climatic conditions, appropriately adjust material indicators and gradation requirements, and pay attention to summarizing experience to continuously improve and refine this new technology.
