Features: To briefly outline the century-long trajectory of art aesthetics in theory, we have planned to edit two series of books: "20th Century Chinese Masters' Paintings Theory Series" and "20th Century Foreign Masters' Art Theory Series." This way, looking horizontally reveals the essence of masters' theories, while looking vertically presents a concise history of a century's thoughts, representing a broad overview of art theory from points to lines. The "20th Century Chinese Masters' Paintings Theory Series" was published in 1999. This book series, "20th Century Foreign Masters' Art Theory Series," serves as its companion. Since the masters' remarks collected in it extend beyond the realm of painting, the term "paintings theory" has been changed to "art theory." This series collects the artistic quotes of 12 masters who hold significant positions in the 20th-century world art history, following the general framework from orthodox to non-orthodox, from external impression to internal expression. The editors and compilers of this series are experts and scholars engaged in art research, as well as graduate students under their guidance. Due to the scattered nature of most foreign artists' art theories previously available, the compilers of this series have specially collected and compiled many first-hand materials from domestic and international sources.
