Patient's question:
Symptom Description: Itching in the vagina; previously used Potassium permanganate a few times, which provided relief, but it has now recurred, and I am currently pregnant.Past Treatment and Effectiveness: Used Metronidazole
What kind of help do you want: Does it affect pregnancy?
Doctor's answer:
Trichomoniasis is a very common sexually transmitted disease, distributed worldwide, and affects both men and women. Local treatment includes rinsing the vagina with 0.5% to 1% lactic acid or acetic acid, followed by inserting a metronidazole vaginal suppository (each containing 200mg) or an acetarsol tablet (each containing 0.25g of acetarsol and 0.03g of boric acid) into the posterior fornix of the vagina, once daily or every other day, with 7 to 10 insertions constituting a course. Treatment should be continued for 2 to 3 courses. Alternatively, a Tinidazole suppository (containing 200mg of metronidazole, 8mg of chlorhexidine acetate, and 160mg of miconazole) can be inserted into the posterior fornix every night, with 7 days constituting a course. Treatment should be continued for 1 to 2 courses, achieving a total effective rate of up to 96.24%. Local treatment can effectively control local symptoms.
