What is an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

Doctor: I haven't had my period, but I'm bleeding again, and my leukorrhea has blood in it!! The previous check showed that there were cysts in the adnexa, but they're gone now, but the bleeding still persists! The urine test is negative. Could this be an ectopic pregnancy?
First follow-up question: And the ultrasound didn't detect anything either! It's the fourth month now. Is it an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy has the following symptoms:
1. Missed period: Before ectopic pregnancy, there is often a short-term missed period or delayed menstruation by several days, with a positive HCG test in urine.
2. Abdominal pain: This is the most common symptom, usually located in the lower abdomen. It is often mistaken for menstrual cramps or pelvic inflammatory disease.
3. Vaginal bleeding: The most common type is light vaginal bleeding after a missed period. Some people mistake it for a normal menstrual period, but it differs, such as having a smaller amount of bleeding or darker blood color. In a few cases, there may be heavy bleeding.
4. Shock: If the ectopic pregnancy ruptures, leading to significant bleeding that accumulates in the abdomen, the patient may experience shock, characterized by fainting, confusion, and a drop in blood pressure.
