Features: In photography dictionaries, you won’t find a trace of "telescope photography," yet in recent years, its presence has become increasingly prominent. By definition, telescope photography involves shooting using a telescope. The author first encountered the basic concept of telescope photography in a Leica product manual, which described how a black adapter could connect a Leica R-series camera to a Leica spotting scope for ultra-long focal length shooting of 1000mm. We were very curious and eager to know how effective this shooting method would be and what the image quality would be like. Thus, we managed to borrow a photography adapter from a friend and took a few rolls of reversal film. The image quality was indeed impressive. It is reported that a 600mm professional lens costs at least 30,000 to 40,000 yuan, while a 1200mm professional lens can cost hundreds of thousands of yuan. No wonder few dare to venture into telescope photography. As an emerging form of photography, telescope photography catches the eye and offers a fresh perspective. Once accustomed to using it, one often feels that it doesn’t go far enough. With proper utilization, previously unattainable shooting subjects can be captured, providing a practical means for ultra-long focal length photography. Of course, there are still many aspects that need further research and refinement. Telescope photography is a virgin land in photography, a frontier waiting to be explored, with a wide range of applications and unique expressive charm. Whether one can gain insights and enjoyment from it, or find opportunities through challenges, telescope photography offers photographers, especially amateur enthusiasts, a new realm to engage with professionals.
