Features: This book begins by exploring the essence and development trends of the new economy based on information technology in contemporary America, and concludes with a rational analysis of China's endogenous development path to study contemporary technological innovation. It aims to answer the following questions: Why is technological innovation important for economic growth? What are the characteristics of contemporary technological innovation? How does contemporary technological innovation play its important role? Has contemporary technological innovation fulfilled its importance? What consequences will it bring? In order to leverage the importance of technological innovation and actively and effectively carry out technological innovation activities, what should we do? Around these questions, the book is divided into six chapters to provide answers.
Chapter 1 reviews and briefly comments on the history of technological innovation theory, analyzing economists' understanding of why technological innovation is important for economic growth and the economic cycle, and discussing the shortcomings in related literature. Chapter 2 reveals the new development characteristics of contemporary technological innovation, represented by information technology, primarily by comparing it with previous technological revolutions to explain the uniqueness of the information technology revolution—the characteristics of information technology as a material resource and the characteristics of information as an economic resource. Chapter 3 explores the economic mechanisms and conditions under which information technology combines with and transforms into the production factor of information as an economic resource, as well as the resulting economic effects. Chapter 4 delves into how the main bodies of the national economy system achieve integration through capital operations under contemporary technological innovation and a market economy, and analyzes in detail how information, when introduced into the virtual capital pricing system, combines with capital to realize its market value. It also examines the allocation, transmission, and flow of information in venture capital investment processes, as well as the allocation of knowledge resources among the main bodies of the national economy in production, transfer, and application. Chapter 5 primarily addresses the questions of "Has contemporary technological innovation fulfilled its importance?" and "What consequences will it bring?" Chapter 6 primarily addresses the question of "What should we do to leverage the important functions of technological innovation and actively and effectively carry out technological innovation activities?"
