Features: The United States is a common law country. U.S. law consists of common law inherited from Britain, modified and Americanized, as well as statutes developed through social development. It includes both nationally unified federal law and state laws enacted by individual states. The mutual conflicts and coordination among these laws make the U.S. legal system complex, diverse, multidimensional, and continuously evolving. Under the U.S. legal system, principles and doctrines such as following precedent, due process, and protecting private property not only have a profound impact in the United States but also hold significant reference value worldwide. This book strives to reflect the characteristics of U.S. law in its content arrangement, starting with an introduction to the common law system and gradually transitioning to U.S. statutory law and related issues in private and corporate law. The book begins with an overview of U.S. law, first introducing the tradition of the common law system, the U.S. court system, and judicial jurisdiction issues, and then further elaborates on the U.S. legal litigation process using the U.S. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as an example. Before delving into commercial law content, it is necessary to understand the provisions of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, as well as the role of the judiciary in government functions. Subsequently, tort law covers intentional torts, negligence, and strict liability; intellectual property primarily introduces the protection of copyright, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets; contract law discusses the formation, legality, form, breach, and remedies of contracts; commercial organizations provide an overview of the establishment and operation of different types of business entities; and negotiable instruments introduce payment methods in the commercial environment.
