New Literary History has already been in circulation for a hundred issues. It was founded at the end of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, and the hardships of that time are still vividly remembered. The phrase "enduring trials yet remaining evergreen" may carry a slightly bitter tone, but "where there's a will, there's a way" has left the editors with a lingering sense of joy. The hundred issues of New Literary History are the crystallization of the efforts of three generations of editors. Now, the editors present these three magnificent volumes to the readers. Describing it as the "essence of a hundred issues" – a collection of the highlights from the first hundred issues – and as the "selection of a hundred issues" – embodying the painstaking work of the editors in selecting and compiling.
