Features: "Hope Cup" is an invitational mathematics competition where all the questions possess rich connotations. It is, of course, an exaggeration to say they all have profound significance, but there are indeed some problems that are truly outstanding. They come with extensive background knowledge and broad thinking space. If analyzed and studied from different perspectives and levels, the knowledge and intellectual nourishment gained will undoubtedly far exceed the value of the problems themselves. It is precisely from this understanding that we have specifically compiled and published Selected and Detailed Explanations of "Hope Cup" National Mathematical Invitational Competitions (one volume each for junior high school grades 7 and 8, and senior high school grades 9 and 10). The authors include members of the "Hope Cup" question-setting committee, among whom are experienced mathematicians, university professors, and outstanding secondary school teachers. They all possess strong mathematical foundations and have deeply studied the questions of past "Hope Cup" competitions each year, having once coached gold and silver medalists and published insightful articles on "Hope Cup" questions. Under the guidance of the "Hope Cup" question-setting committee, these authors selected a portion of the more than 2,000 questions from the "Hope Cup" national mathematical invitational competitions and conducted as thorough an analysis as possible of these problems, striving to fully reveal their underlying significance. This is how this series of books came to be.
