Features: The Fujian art and craft is colorful and dazzling, holding a prominent position nationwide. With a history spanning thousands of years, it encompasses both material and spiritual civilization. Specifically, it involves production tools and productivity, as well as social history, ethnic history, cultural history, technological history, aesthetic history, and the history of China's relations with foreign countries. The content is extremely complex and rich. Adding to the diversity of art and craft varieties, which have evolved from nothing to something, from few to many, from rough to refined, and from low to high, there has been a long and winding development process. In the past, no one had systematically organized it, with historical materials scattered across classics, historical works, and newspapers. Physical artifacts are stored in museums, archives, folk museums, and exhibition halls, while more are collected by individuals. To date, no comprehensive and systematic history of art and craft has been published. In the absence of existing written materials and images, the authors of this book, with the courage of pioneers, bravely took on the task of compiling the history of art and craft in their province. They spent ten years, exerting great effort, tirelessly collecting all available materials. They referenced hundreds of books and took thousands of photographs of physical artifacts. Based on a wealth of historical records, they used the materialist view of history as a guide to sift, authenticate, and organize the materials. Through examining political systems, social changes, economic systems, the development of productivity, cultural systems, social trends, traditional arts, and folk customs, they studied their influence on art and craft, striving to explore the driving forces and evolutionary patterns of its development. While grasping the vertical historical development, they paid attention to the horizontal expansion of each historical period, aiming to make the written materials and images as accurate as possible, diverse, and complementary. After the initial draft was completed, they continuously revised, supplemented, and edited it, going through multiple revisions. This book can be said to be the crystallization of the authors' hard work—it truly embodies the saying, "Ten years of effort to forge a sword!" This book is a comprehensive monograph introducing the history of Fujian art and craft development. It covers all disciplines of Fujian art and craft, with the timeline as the main thread, providing detailed and specific content while maintaining concise narration.
