Features: Apache is currently the most widely used web server globally. Although Apache administrators can find a vast number of documentation files related to installation and configuration settings, it is often frustrating and confusing to find settings suitable for personal needs. Apache Classic Examples collects many practical examples, questions, and answers for web administrators, programmers, and other readers who use Apache. Each question in this book has a feasible answer or a "trick" (which readers can use immediately). However, this book does not just provide ready-to-cut-and-paste answers; it also explains how these solutions work and why they are effective. With slight adjustments to these solution techniques, you will surely find the answer you need. The book starts with simple tasks like installing the server and gradually moves on to more complex tasks, such as securing and managing proxy servers, performance tuning, and password protection adjustments. This book guarantees you will save a lot of time. It includes configuration examples for the following topics:
· Redirecting and rewriting URLs;
· Denying access to unquoted requests;
· Running CGI programs as the file owner;
· Logging more detailed error and access logs;
· Separating logs for each server and updating log files monthly;
· Determining how much memory space the server needs;
· Optimizing symbolic links and process creation;
· Forwarding requests to other servers;
· Protecting server files from malicious attacks.
