Features: The problem of collocation always causes trouble, whether it is English-to-Chinese or Chinese-to-English translation. Collocation has always been the key challenge. To enable medical students, medical workers, and those engaged in medical English translation or teaching to master the collocation of medical vocabulary, we have integrated the achievements of numerous dictionary compilers and strived to create this work, which combines academic rigor, knowledge, and practicality, as a gift to the readers. We hope they can learn from typical collocation examples, imitate, infer, or generalize, gradually mastering the collocation of medical English through standardized usage, thereby achieving a breakthrough in their English proficiency. As a collocation dictionary, both parts must be addressed. Therefore, the collocations in this book are divided into two parts: English-Chinese and Chinese-English. For Chinese speakers, mastering Chinese collocations is relatively easy, but when translating them into English, errors may abound. Translating Chinese collocations into English has become a major obstacle for most English learners or users. The most crucial aspect is to determine whether the translated Chinese collocations conform to English collocation norms. The number of words forming collocations in English and Chinese often differs. Sometimes, a long string of Chinese collocations can be expressed with a single English word. Therefore, the English-Chinese and Chinese-English sections of this book cannot be compared mechanically. For this reason, the two parts of the book are independently compiled, essentially serving as two separate collocation dictionaries, with a vocabulary exceeding that of general English-Chinese and Chinese-English bilingual dictionaries. The compilers of this book are mostly English experts with postgraduate degrees or medical experts highly proficient in medical English, primarily from the School of Foreign Languages at Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou Tumor Hospital, and the Guangzhou Municipal Health Bureau. They collaborated with dedication and meticulous effort to create this work. The book includes approximately 15,000 English-Chinese collocations and 21,000 Chinese-English collocations, totaling over 36,000 entries. However, whether in Chinese or English, words are vast, and their collocations are equally so.
