Features: Drawing always plays a central role in the field of architecture. Drawing is a visual language that architects use to express their ideas, making it closely tied to the history of architecture and serving as a crucial bridge that transforms human creative inspiration into reality. Drawing is the basic way architects communicate and express their ideas to clients, other professionals, and the public. However, like other forms of representation, drawing has limitations in its ability to reflect the real world. It also functions as a mechanism that helps people understand the relationships between the appearance, function, and technical aspects of a project. From the perspective of how architectural drawing has been analyzed, it holds the same importance as official documents. It is regarded as an art form, and each document can be analyzed according to its composition, color, or intent. The drawing reveals the traces of the creator's personal experiences, reflecting their ideas, architectural philosophy, and even their emotions at the time. In summary, drawing not only serves architectural purposes but also holds historical significance. Architectural drawings can be categorized into different levels based on varying requirements. Clients with specific needs can participate in sharing the content and progress of the project. Different types of drawings adhere to different drafting standards and highlight different aspects of the entire project. Sketches contain the author's initial outline of their intentions and ideas for the entire project. Since these sketches are drawn spontaneously and quickly based on the designer's momentary inspiration, they may be private graphic files, able to reflect the designer's personality. Architectural design drawings emphasize three essential considerations when describing a project: planning, elevation, and site. This perspective dates back to the Renaissance. Depending on the reader, architectural design drawings can include varying amounts of information, such as measurements, technically detailed text, site markers, or building textures, and can also incorporate other considerations like perspectives, axis determinations, or specific design drawings. Technical design drawings mark the starting point for the actual construction of the project. They are based on the key architectural tool of architectural drawings, supplemented by a series of larger-scale design drawings and stronger technical features. From the overall structure to the smallest details and the completion of the project, technical design drawings present and analyze the internal workings of the project. This book showcases the vivid representative works of contemporary outstanding architectural masters, who convey the essence of their works through these creations. Thus, it becomes a fundamental tool for understanding the various characteristics of architectural design reasoning. For example: Eero Saarinen, a man of few words. We primarily analyze his surviving drawing legacy to reveal the subtle differences in the design characteristics of each contemporary architectural master and express their individual philosophies. This is a rich and vivid journey that begins with sketches and extends to other drawings. Along the way, it covers a wide range of topics, from well-known architectural masters such as Tadao Ando, Mario Botta, Alvaro Siza, Dominique Perrault, and Renzo Piano, to recently internationally recognized architects such as Kengo Kuma and Vincent Van Duysen. This evolution provides a broad overview of the fundamental methods of architectural representation, based on the reasoning of the architects, the technical resources they utilize, and the cultural influences they are exposed to.
