Features: The Daodejing by Laozi is one of the major classical texts of the pre-Qin period. The Annotations to the Daodejing primarily uses the stone inscriptions of the Daodejing from Longxing Temple in Yizhou, dated to the second year of the Jinglong era (708 AD) during the Tang Dynasty, as the main source. It references over one hundred editions, including stone prints, Dunhuang manuscripts, old handwritten copies, lost texts, and the Zhengtong Daocang versions, for collation. The work also incorporates the research findings of Wang Niansun, Yu Yues, Hong Yixuan, and later scholars, adding annotations, interpretations, and adopting the reading principles of Jiang Yougao.
