Features: Each bookshelf is a small universe of civilization. Through the primordial chaos, it has experienced transformations, sometimes flourishing and abundant, sometimes declining and desolate. It is bound to have flaws as well as imperfections, and eventually will fade into oblivion and demise, then transform into another universe, creating a different bookshelf and a new landscape. To compile such a book is not merely to satisfy insatiable curiosity. I believe that gazing at bookshelves also holds a very significant meaning—to document the ever-changing scenery of each bookshelf.
I often reminisce about the time when I first had my own room, with books arranged on a makeshift bookshelf made of hollow bricks and drawer panels. Those hundred or so books have survived to this day, though only a few remain. Naturally, the arrangement and placement have completely changed due to the number of books, the form of the bookshelf, and shifts in reading priorities. I always regret not capturing its image back then. Thanks to my participation in the editing of Bookshelf, I was able to take detailed photos of my old home bookshelf before moving. This serves not only to freeze the past decade of my interest in bookshelves for future reflection but also to leave a of the previous phase of my reading activities.
Of course, using a public platform to feature my own bookshelf is not entirely about filling space; it also aims to spark further discussion. From the beginning, Bookshelf has had no intention of conducting a competition for book collections or showcasing bookshelf decorations. If you look at my bookshelf, you will easily understand this.
