Help needed: What treatment is recommended now?
Doctor's answer:
1. Androgens; highly effective for dysmenorrhea caused by endometriosis. The usual dosage is 5 mg methyltestosterone, taken orally twice daily; or 25 mg testosterone propionate, given intramuscularly twice weekly, followed by a 2-3 month observation period after stopping the medication. The monthly dosage should not exceed 300 mg, as otherwise, masculinization may occur.2. Pseudopregnancy therapy: an artificial method of inducing amenorrhea by taking oral contraceptives to mimic pregnancy. Commonly used drugs include ethinyl progesterone, medroxyprogesterone, megestrol, and 18-methyl, all of which can be used to treat this condition. The typical dosage is more than four times the contraceptive dose, supplemented with a certain amount of estrogen, usually ethinyl estradiol, to prevent endometrial shedding and bleeding. If breakthrough bleeding occurs, the estrogen dose can be increased. Generally, continuous administration is recommended for 6-12 months.
