Can high prolactin from the pituitary cause infertility?

Patient's question:

Medical Description: Follicle-stimulating hormone 7.98, Luteinizing hormone 3.28, Prolactin 40.44, Estradiol 73.00, Testosterone 0.61. I have been unable to conceive for over two years. Before that, I had a miscarriage, and now I have been diagnosed with high prolactin. What happens if prolactin is high? Will it cause infertility?
History of Treatment and Effect: No treatment has started yet.
What Help Do You Want: I want to know if these test results are normal and whether infertility is caused by high prolactin.

Doctor's answer:

Hyperprolactinemia can lead to infertility. Elevated prolactin levels can significantly inhibit the normal secretion of pituitary gonadotropins (such as follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone), affecting normal follicular development, ovulation function, and reproductive function. A decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone secretion directly leads to impaired follicular development in the ovaries, resulting in weak or underdeveloped follicles, ultimately affecting conception. Insufficient luteinizing hormone secretion, on the other hand, causes luteal dysfunction, making it difficult to maintain the implantation and development of the fertilized egg, leading to infertility. Even if pregnancy occurs, it is more likely to result in miscarriage.
