History of Western Legal Thought (Second Edition)

Author: Gu Chunde, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-03-24
Features: Since its publication in 2000, this textbook has been widely welcomed by faculty and students across law schools in China. Based on reader feedback and the needs of teaching practice, we made necessary revisions to the textbook in early 2006. While maintaining the original system, structure, and content of the textbook, we added the legal thoughts of Polybius, Marsilius, Fichte, and Radbruch, among others. We also supplemented a great deal of content on the emergence and development of ancient Greek and Roman slave societies, the legal thoughts of Plato, the legal thoughts of Bentham and Austin, the legal thoughts of Savigny and Maine, the legal philosophy of Kant and Hegel, and the legal thoughts of Kelsen and Hart. Some formatting adjustments were made to make the textbook more comprehensive and reasonable. The text and expressions of each chapter were corrected, and some inappropriate statements and typos were fixed, improving the quality of the textbook.
