How to treat candidiasis best

Patient's question:

Medical Description: Candida vulvovaginitis, white discharge like curd or lumps, frequently recurring.
Previous Treatment and Effect: Tried many methods, but it always recurs!
Help Needed: Want to be cured completely and prevent recurrence!

Doctor's answer:

Use an alkaline solution, such as 2–4% sodium bicarbonate or soap water, to rinse the external genitalia and vagina, altering the vaginal pH to make it unfavorable for fungal growth. After rinsing, insert Nystatin tablets or suppositories into the vagina, with a dosage of 100,000–200,000 units each time, once nightly, for a course of 10–14 days. Apply 3% miconazole cream to the external genitalia afterward for better results. For persistent cases, oral ketoconazole or clotrimazole can be taken to eliminate intestinal candidiasis, or miconazole can be used topically. During treatment, sexual intercourse is prohibited, and underwear should be changed, washed, and boiled daily. After completing one course of treatment, a fungal test should be negative. Subsequent fungal tests should also be negative after each menstrual cycle. Three consecutive consolidation courses are required to consider the condition cured. It is advisable for the male partner to undergo treatment as well. Shoes and socks should be washed separately from underwear. Condoms are recommended during sexual intercourse.
