Features: This book is divided into nine chapters, with 633 Q&A entries, covering a wide range of aspects in foreign trade practice. It includes topics such as: application for import and export business qualifications; management of enterprise import and export codes; registration procedures for new foreign trade enterprises (using Shanghai as an example); application procedures for participating in the Canton Fair; application for international market development funds for small and medium-sized enterprises; application for quotas and import/export licenses; procedures for handling technical trade and processing trade; handling of UN procurement; foreign exchange management; customs and export commodity inspection and quarantine; export tax rebates; generalized system of preferences; insurance; bank financing; export freight, and more. The appendix also specially collects information on administrative agencies and relevant foreign trade knowledge. The scope of this book is quite broad. Some chapters have been entirely revised, such as Section 3, which originally covered how new foreign trade enterprises in Shanghai could handle registration procedures but has now been changed to international trade methods. This change is because Shanghai Pudong previously offered preferential policies for establishing foreign trade enterprises, but these policies have now been replaced with a uniform system of registration for foreign trade operators nationwide, making it unnecessary to focus on Shanghai. Section 6, regarding the export license for textile passive quotas, has been removed as it has been canceled due to special circumstances, such as temporary textile export licenses under special safeguard measures, which are too volatile to be included in the book. Section 20, which originally covered the approval and declaration procedures for resident representative offices of foreign enterprises and Hong Kong/Macau/TAIWAN enterprises in Shanghai, has been changed to transaction negotiation. The three newly added topics are very important in international trade practice. Additionally, Sections 2, 3, and 6 of Chapter 2; Sections 3 and 4 of Chapter 4; and Chapters 5 and 8 have been revised. A new Chapter 9 on international settlement has been added. Appendices 3, 5, and 10 have been revised. In the original book's Appendix 9, regarding UN procurement, the section titled "Commodity Categories for UN Procurement" (pages 470, line 9 to 487, last line) has been omitted due to space constraints. Appendix 11, which originally contained information on administrative agencies in Shanghai, has been entirely removed.
