He served as the Deputy Director of the Central Literary Research Institute, Editor-in-Chief of People's Literature, and a member of the editorial board of Children's Literature. His works, such as Da Lin and Xiao Lin, Bao's Father and Son, The Story of Luo Wenying, and The Secret of the Magic Gourd, are considered classic fairy tales that have influenced generations of readers and remain timeless. The Zhang Tianyi Fairy Tale and Fable Award was established to commemorate Zhang Tianyi's outstanding contributions to children's literature and is one of the highest-level children's literature awards in China.
Overall, the fairy tales included in Selected Works of Award Winners of the Zhang Tianyi Fairy Tale and Fable Award can be said to meet Mr. Tianyi's standards of being beneficial and interesting. We believe they will certainly be loved and welcomed by a wide range of young and middle-aged readers. 2005 marked the 20th anniversary of Mr. Zhang Tianyi's passing, and 2006 was the 100th anniversary of his birth. I think the selection and publication of Selected Works of Award Winners of the Zhang Tianyi Fairy Tale and Fable Award is also the best way to honor and commemorate Mr. Tianyi.
