Features: This book focuses on applying experiments based on establishing a database of Frankia strains in Fujian, mastering their biological characteristics, and understanding Frankia genetic diversity. It screens excellent strains that form nitrogen-fixing symbiosis with Casuarina and Myrica, which have been applied in seedling cultivation and afforestation, achieving significant results. This lays a foundation for improving the efficiency of symbiotic nitrogen fixation and expanding the range of biological nitrogen fixation. The significance of the strains collected and isolated in terms of Frankia classification and phylogeny remains to be identified. The preliminary results of this study indicate that expanding the utilization of Frankia is necessary and possible. In the future, it is necessary to continue surveying to grasp the strain resources, understand the biodiversity of Frankia, and highlight the screening and utilization techniques of specialized strains for important fruit and forest tree species, as well as stress-resistant strains. Expanding the host range of Frankia infection, improving the efficiency of symbiotic nitrogen fixation, and exploring the possible roles of Frankia with non-host plants require promoting the integration of conventional technologies and genetic engineering to achieve the goals as soon as possible and better serve agriculture and benefit humanity.
