Features: Shi Lang (1621-1696), a native of Jinjiang, Fujian. In his early years, he was a subordinate of Zheng Zhilong and Zheng Chenggong. However, due to conflicts with Zheng Chenggong, his father and brother were implicated and killed, forcing him to leave Zheng and join the Qing dynasty. This book is a concise yet accessible read that introduces the life and achievements of Shi Lang. Although it is a brief overview, it is based on existing research. The book elaborates on previously unaddressed or insufficiently studied topics, such as Shi Lang's knowledge, the evolution of his concepts of "loyalty to the ruler" and "loyalty to the master" and their relationship to his evaluation, as well as the expression and causes of his ideas on "unification" and maritime defense and rights. For ease of reading, the book does not simply reproduce historical sources but translates obscure classical Chinese into colloquial language, while retaining some sentences that are difficult to translate or relatively straightforward. The photographs and captions in this book were provided by Shi Yushen, a and historian. This book is dedicated to commemorating this patriotic general who made significant contributions to national unification and the progress of the nation.
