Features: The transformation from a major trading country to a strong trading nation is a grand strategic goal for the development of trade in China's new era. Since the beginning of the new century, new trends in domestic and foreign economic and trade development have shown that China's current trade development strategy needs fundamental adjustments. To this end, we need the guidance of the scientific development concept, combined with the major changes in the domestic and foreign economic and trade environment since the 21st century, to examine the problems in the current development of China's foreign trade from a strategic perspective and make the correct strategic choices for China to move towards a trading power in the new era. Based on this starting point, the author conceived this paper. This study can be structurally summarized into three parts: The first part is the theoretical part, which includes Chapter 1, focusing on analyzing and reflecting on the basic theoretical issues of trade development strategy; the second part is the reality and problems of China's trade, which includes Chapters 2 to 4, not only analyzing the current domestic and foreign economic and trade environment and realistic characteristics that affect China's foreign trade development but also conducting in-depth reflection on some issues in China's trade development; the third part is the strategic choices for moving towards a trading power, which includes Chapters 5 to 9, mainly constructing a theoretical framework for the transformation from a major trading country to a strong trading nation by drawing on Michael Porter's theory of national competitive advantage, and on this basis, proposing the main strategic choices for China to move towards a trading power.
