Features: "Study Japanese for Exchange Students – Nihongo Chūkyū" (Volume 1) is a mid-level Japanese textbook developed by the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Center following "Study Japanese for Exchange Students – Nihongo Shōkyū." It is primarily aimed at students of Japanese from outside Japan and general adult learners. To complement this book, a workbook will be published shortly, including exercises for kanji and grammar. We would be honored if you could use it together with the main textbook. Additionally, we have produced an audio cassette containing dialogues and reading comprehension sections from this book.
"Study Japanese for Exchange Students – Nihongo Chūkyū" (Volume 1) is designed for foreigners who have completed a beginner-level Japanese course (approximately 300 hours) and is a follow-up to "Study Japanese for Exchange Students – Nihongo Shōkyū." Although this book is intended for Japanese learners outside Japan, it also takes into account learners within Japan, allowing them to make full use of it through different study methods. The purpose of this book is to master the fundamental abilities required to understand general Japanese conversations and read and comprehend texts. The book primarily guides readers to progressively learn and master the four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is recommended to first practice through spoken exercises and then reinforce learning with reading and writing exercises.
The book consists of 14 lessons. Each lesson focuses on essential expressions and language functions needed in communication, considering the context of these expressions, and is supplemented with key vocabulary and grammar points.
