Financial Phenomenon Analysis

Author: Wei Gejun (Compiler)

Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: Although commentary falls under the category of news, it differs from general news reports and should focus on uncovering the underlying meaning of the news. It should reflect certain policy requirements, align with the work of financial centers, and provide direction and enlightenment. However, commentary is not policy or a document, so it does not require the meticulous wording of official writing, nor does it need to quote extensively from policies and documents, nor does it have to align perfectly with political statements. Commentary should demonstrate theoretical logic. A commentary that contradicts common economic principles or basic logic will leave little lasting impression. Therefore, the content of commentary should adhere to fundamental economic principles, clarify the underlying economic relationships, concepts, and mechanisms in the discussed issues, and avoid making obvious mistakes. However, commentary is not an academic paper, so we do not need to scrutinize it with academic standards at every turn. It should be recognized that achieving unity among news, policy, and theory is not easy, but it should be our pursuit. This requires us to stay close to the market and reality, fully grasp policies, pay attention to learning and research, and strive to become learning-oriented, expert, and research-oriented news professionals, continuously improving our commentary skills. This book collects most of the author's works (2003–2005) after joining the Financial Times, which are limited in scope but represent the author's hard work. Thus, without hesitation, they have been compiled into this small book for the readers' criticism and correction.
