Patient's question:
I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Is it normal to have 44 weeks of amniotic fluid at 25 weeks?Doctor's answer:
In normal pregnancy, the amniotic fluid volume ranges from 500 to 2000 ml. It exists within the amniotic cavity, surrounding the fetus, and appears as anechoic. After 35 weeks of gestation, granular echoes or fine short linear echoes may be present in the amniotic fluid. During measurement, the maximum depth of the amniotic fluid can be measured, or the sum of the amniotic fluid depths in four quadrants can be obtained to calculate the amniotic fluid index. The normal range for the depth of an amniotic fluid pool is 3.0 to 8.0 cm. The normal range for the amniotic fluid index is 5.0 to 20.0 cm. The latter is currently more commonly used.
