Can you do the TSI test at 16 weeks of pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Can I have the triple screen test at 16 weeks of pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

A Down syndrome screening can be performed between weeks 15 and 20 of pregnancy, with the optimal time being between weeks 16 and 18.
A woman's ovulation date is generally about 14 days before her next menstrual period. For safety, we consider the 5 days before ovulation, the 4 days after ovulation, and ovulation itself as a total of 10 days, known as the fertile window. The remaining time outside the menstrual period is called the safe period.
Women of normal fertile age typically release only one egg per month. After an egg is released, it can survive for 1 to 2 days. Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for 2 to 3 days, and their fertilizing ability is highest within 24 hours after ovulation. Sperm loses the ability to fertilize an egg after 2 to 3 days.
Therefore, sexual intercourse 2 to 3 days before ovulation and 1 to 2 days after ovulation increases the likelihood of conception. This period is called the fertile period or the risky period.
