Can you eat apples during your period?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Can I eat apples during my period?

Doctor's answer:

During the menstrual period, it is okay to eat apples. During this time, it is recommended to consume light, neutral-flavored, and nutrient-rich foods. It is advisable to avoid spicy foods with strong and substances that may irritate blood vessels, as well as smoking and drinking alcohol, to prevent vasodilation, which could lead to early menstruation and excessive menstrual flow. Fresh and easily digestible foods should be consumed during this period, while raw, cold, and difficult-to-digest foods should be avoided.
Generally, one to two weeks before labor, due to the descent of the fetal presenting part and irregular contractions of the uterus, pain may occur, often resembling menstrual cramps. This pain may last for one to two hours or just a few dozen minutes, with no consistent pattern, indicating that labor is approaching.
