Can you eat soybeans during your period?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Can I eat soybeans during my period?

Doctor's answer:

Soybeans are sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and enter the spleen and large intestine meridians. They have the functions of strengthening the spleen, broadening the middle, moisturizing dryness, resolving dampness, clearing heat, detoxifying, and tonifying qi. They are primarily used to treat conditions such as malnutrition with diarrhea, abdominal distension and emaciation, pregnancy-induced poisoning, sores and carbuncles, and traumatic bleeding. Soybeans also have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and are effective against pharyngitis, conjunctivitis, stomatitis, bacterial dysentery, and enteritis. Therefore, they can be consumed during menstruation without any adverse effects.
