Is it possible to be an ectopic pregnancy at 41 days pregnant?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Could I be having an ectopic pregnancy at 41 days pregnant?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, generally around week 6 of pregnancy, an ultrasound examination can be used to rule out ectopic pregnancy. After embryo transfer, serum HCG is measured on day 14 to determine if pregnancy has occurred. On day 21 after embryo transfer, serum HCG is measured again to assess the development of the embryo. On day 30 after embryo transfer, a transvaginal ultrasound is performed to confirm intrauterine pregnancy and check for fetal heartbeat.
