Features: The "Record of" written by Su Dongpo exhibits dignified and profound style, ethereal charm, solid and heavy texture, and unrestrained boldness, all of which are inseparable from his artistic cultivation, academic attitude, and talent. When learning this piece, one should explore its essence based on their own understanding and appreciation. There are countless stone inscriptions and calligraphy scrolls in China, and many excellent calligraphers have emerged. However, due to the passage of time, many of these inscriptions, including those revered by calligraphers, have suffered varying degrees of textual damage and surface wear. To facilitate modern learners and practice, and to provide the best calligraphy models for those who practice calligraphy, our publishing house has specially invited scholars to select and meticulously examine some famous inscriptions from past dynasties. They have supplemented missing characters in the inscriptions, cleaned up faded traces on the surfaces, and restored the inscriptions to their original completeness, making them look brand new.
The key to practicing calligraphy lies in mastering the rules of brushwork. However, calligraphers throughout history have each had their unique styles. To assist learners, we have attached diagrams illustrating the brushwork rules of different calligraphers at the beginning of the book. Calligraphy is a unique art where the author expresses spiritual beauty through the writing of Chinese characters. A well-crafted inscription is like a beautiful piece of prose, and skilled calligraphers can transform its strokes into gold, leaving a lasting impression. To make it easier for learners to read and write, we have annotated and punctuated all the inscriptions in this set of "Newly Compiled Complete Masterpieces," and appended the full text in simplified horizontal characters at the end of each volume, bridging the gap between the past and present. This makes the inscriptions not only practical models for calligraphy practice but also excellent works of literary appreciation.
Our publishing house is launching five masterpieces by renowned calligraphers for the first time, including "'s ," "'s ," and "'s ," along with their simplified versions. More masterpieces by famous calligraphers will be released.
