Features: There are countless Chinese steles and rubbings, and many skilled calligraphers in China. However, due to the passage of time, many steles and rubbings, including those revered by calligraphers, have suffered varying degrees of missing characters and worn surfaces. To facilitate modern learners and provide the best calligraphy models, our publishing house has specially invited scholars to select and meticulously examine some famous steles and rubbings from various dynasties. They have supplemented missing characters, cleaned worn-out surfaces, and restored the steles to their original completeness, giving them a fresh and renewed appearance.
The key to practicing calligraphy lies in mastering the rules of brushwork. Since calligraphers have each developed their own unique brushwork styles, we have included diagrams illustrating the brushwork rules of different masters at the beginning of each rubbing for the convenience of learners. Calligraphy is a unique art where the author expresses spiritual beauty through the writing of Chinese characters. A well-crafted stele is like a beautiful piece of prose, and a skilled calligrapher can turn its strokes into gold, leaving a lasting impression.
To facilitate reading and writing, we have carefully proofread and punctuated all characters in this set of "Newly Compiled Complete Steles," added appropriate annotations, and presented them in a simplified horizontal format. Our publishing house is launching the following five masterpieces by renowned calligraphers for the first time: "Ouyang Xun's Stele of the Ninefold Palace," "Liu Fangquan's Stele of the Profound Secret Pagoda," "Yan Zhenqing's Stele of the Treasure Pagoda," "Zhao Mengfu's Stele of Shouchun Hall," and "Su Shi's Stele of the Drunken Pavilion." Simplified versions of these steles are included, and other famous steles will be released.
