Features: The son of Liu Shuying, a prominent figure in Yangzhou's salt industry, Liu Pingshan was an ambitious individual who advocated for saving the nation through strength. His classmate and close friend Zhu Bofu believed that revolution was necessary to save the country. While Liu Pingshan was working to establish a factory, Zhu Bofu was arrested and imprisoned for assassinating a high-ranking official of the Qing court. After the success of the Xinhai Revolution, Zhu Bofu retired and became a lawyer, while Liu Pingshan invested heavily in establishing what was then the only mine car factory in China, hiring Cheng Tieheng, a German graduate, as the chief engineer. The factory grew from nothing to something, overcoming countless difficulties, all thanks to Cheng Tieheng and his wife Qiang Ruonan, as well as skilled craftsmen like Gao Tiejiang, who overcame technical challenges and allowed the factory to struggle forward. Twenty years later, the mine car factory had developed into a massive locomotive and rolling stock plant, and the Shanghe Bay area where the factory was located had become a prosperous town. During the time of Japan's invasion of China, Japanese planes conducted relentless bombing raids, reducing the world-renowned factory to a wasteland overnight.
