Features: This book is a foundational research project under the National "Seventh Five-Year Plan" philosophy and social sciences research project "The Impact of Lu Wang Xinxue on Chinese Society," edited by Professor Wu Yannan of Guizhou Normal University. The final of the "The Impact of Lu Wang Xinxue on Chinese Society" project, the book "Xinxue and Chinese Society," was officially published in January 1994. However, the publication of "A History of Chinese Confucian Studies" as the foundational research behind it lagged significantly. The primary reason was that "A History of Chinese Confucian Studies" covered an extremely broad scope and was highly challenging. Zhou Yutong once said: "Confucian studies were a comprehensive name for a part of academic disciplines before the development of a systematic academic classification system in China." Its content involved all fields and levels of traditional Chinese culture and held a dominant position. As the core of traditional Chinese culture and the orthodox academic thought of the feudal society, Confucian studies had a profound impact on Chinese society. How to study Chinese Confucian studies under the guidance of Marxism and compile a scholarly monograph of substantial scale remained a new challenge for us. With the passion to promote Chinese culture, flourish academia, and enhance the cohesion of the Chinese nation, we made multiple revisions to the manuscript of "A History of Chinese Confucian Studies" to ensure the quality of this pioneering work. The writing process of this book spanned approximately nine years. Initially, I collaborated with Professor Tu Minggao of the History Department at Southwest Normal University to plan the compilation of this book and invited several middle-aged and young professors and associate professors, such as Li Yujie and Qin Xueqi, who had extensive research on the history of Chinese Confucian studies, to join the editorial committee and contribute to the manuscript. Professor Wu Yannan and Professor Li Yujie led the editorial committee, and Mr. Dai Yi was appointed as the consultant for this book.
