Features: This textbook series consists of six levels, with one book for each level, covering intensive reading, extensive reading, rapid reading, and listening instruction, all designed according to graded teaching requirements. The grammar and exercises section comprises four levels, suitable for grades 1–4. Both the intensive reading and listening instruction books are accompanied by teacher's guides and audio cassettes; the extensive reading books for all six levels also come with teacher's guides. For students below the curriculum's entry requirements, two sets of preparatory-level intensive reading and extensive reading books have been developed. The entire series was compiled by a team of universities, including Fudan University, Peking University, East China Normal University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, and Nanjing University, with Dong Yafen of Fudan University serving as the chief editor. The entire membership of the former College Foreign Language Textbook Review Committee's Comprehensive College English Review Group has been closely involved in the design and compilation of this series from the outset. This revision was carried out based on extensive feedback from teachers across the country using the series, as well as suggestions gathered from thousands of students and teachers through questionnaires. The College Foreign Language Teaching Guidance Committee's Comprehensive College English Group provided comprehensive guidance and support for the revision. The purpose of the revision is "to face the 21st century and elevate college English teaching to a new level." The revised edition makes appropriate adjustments to the texts in each book, improves the coverage and frequency of curriculum vocabulary, refines exercises to emphasize the practice of key words, and strengthens cross-level connections to ensure each book is self-contained yet complementary, forming a cohesive whole. The revised edition places greater emphasis on the general applicability across disciplines such as humanities, sciences, engineering, agriculture, and medicine, aiming to provide students with a "broad, deep, and solid" language foundation.
