Features: This is the 6th edition of the standard teaching material for the five-year clinical medicine program at colleges and universities across China. It was developed in accordance with the requirements of the Review Committee for Clinical Medicine Textbooks of Higher Medical and Pharmaceutical Colleges and the Editor-in-Chief Meeting held in Qingdao in September 2002. The textbook inherits and carries forward the strengths of the 5th edition while adhering to the principles of "Three Basics," "Five Qualities," and "Three Specifics." Additionally, based on research findings on the use of the 5th edition, targeted revisions were made to ensure the revised material better aligns with the practical needs of clinical medicine education. This allows students to grasp fundamental knowledge, theories, and skills in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and to preliminarily apply TCM for the prevention and treatment of common and prevalent diseases.
The writing of this textbook emphasizes both the fundamental theories of TCM and its clinical comprehensive application. The book is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the fundamental theories of TCM, covering the history and basic characteristics of TCM, its philosophical thought, the concept of the normal human body in TCM, the concept of disease, diagnostic techniques, treatment principles and methods, Chinese herbal medicine, formulas, and acupuncture. It basically includes the fundamental knowledge and theories of TCM. The second part primarily emphasizes the comprehensive clinical application of TCM, including internal medicine syndromes, gynecological conditions, pediatric syndromes, surgical conditions, and tumors. Through the diagnosis and treatment of common conditions, it reflects the basic characteristics of TCM's holistic concept, dynamic concept, and syndrome differentiation and treatment. It also demonstrates the clinical value of TCM's theory, method, formula, and medicine, highlighting the principle of integrating theory with practice.
An index of formulas and a list of references are appended at the end of the book for reference.
