Features: Considering that the primary audience for this textbook is long-term medical students without pediatric knowledge—future medical masters or doctors—the textbook adheres to the spirit of "deeper, more refined, and more updated" advocated by the National Higher Medical Education Textbook Construction Research Association and the Textbook Office of the Ministry of Health for the compilation of long-term medical education textbooks. It upholds the principles that the textbook must possess ideological, scientific, advanced, inspirational, and applicable qualities. In terms of content, it not only focuses on introducing the basic theoretical knowledge, basic thinking methods, and basic practical skills of common pediatric diseases but also briefly outlines current unresolved issues, research status, new diagnostic and treatment technologies, controversies over research findings, and future research trends for various diseases. The format strives for concise language, easy-to-understand explanations, strong logic, and rigorous structure, enabling students to recognize diseases, think critically, continuously explore, and dare to innovate through studying this textbook.
Based on the seven-year program's Pediatrics, the textbook has expanded the scope of diseases to facilitate self-study, including over ten additional conditions such as glycogen storage diseases and pediatric gastrointestinal malformations in genetics and metabolism. Due to the rapid advancement of rescue techniques, new diagnostic and treatment technologies have been added, such as neonatal intensive care and conventional mechanical ventilation, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric intracranial hypertension. To make learning more vivid and intuitive, numerous illustrations and tables have been added, such as imaging of the circulatory system, pulmonary function curves of the respiratory system, and pathological images of many diseases. Since infectious diseases are common in pediatrics and can be easily confused with other conditions, a chapter on infectious diseases has been included.
