Patient's question:
Doctor:Hello! This year, I have been experiencing itching on both sides of my vagina (i.e., inner thighs) and in the pubic hair area, usually starting around midnight. The sensation is similar to skin allergies. The itch feels more intense the more I scratch it, or when I take hot or cold showers. I have had a gynecological examination, and my discharge was normal. I have also used a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution for cleaning. I am a woman in her thirties and very hygienic. A few days ago, I had another discharge test, and the results were: Epithelial cells: 2+10, WBC: 2+10. No yeast or trichomonas were found. Is this still abnormal? I am really frustrated! I sincerely request the doctor's valuable advice.
Doctor's answer:
According to your description, if you have checked and found that all the routine tests for leukorrhea are normal, it could be vulvar inflammation, vulvar squamous hyperplasia, or vulvar lichen sclerosus. If it is vulvar lichen, the surrounding skin may show changes, such as atrophy or whitening. If none of these symptoms are present, it can be ruled out, and it may be vulvar squamous hyperplasia. It is recommended to apply hydrocortisone cream, one to two times a day.
