Is the accuracy of the test paper high?

Patient's question:

Currently, in general situations: The test strip has been used for a long time, and it is still showing a single red line. I doubt whether the test strip can really detect ovulation. First follow-up question: I'm really sorry, I mean ovulation test strips.

Doctor's answer:

1、Testing in the morning and evening may have some impact on the results. Urine in the morning generally has the highest HCG value, so many instructions recommend testing upon waking, but this is not absolute.
2、Testing time: HCG usually appears in the urine a few days after the fertilized egg implants, and it must reach a certain amount to be detectable. Therefore, for women with regular menstrual cycles, HCG may not be detectable in the urine until after the menstrual period is delayed. For women with long menstrual cycles or abnormal ovulation, HCG may not be detectable until 40–44 days after the period has stopped.
3、Urine dilution: Drinking too much water may dilute the urine, potentially leading to a false-negative result. When testing, pay attention to the length of the urine that immerses the test paper. Sometimes, if the urine immerses the test paper too deeply, it may make it difficult to interpret the results.
