Is it normal for the kidneys to separate by 0.5 cm during pregnancy?

Patient's question:

The fetal position is in the right upper abdomen;
Biparietal diameter: 5.6 cm;
Spinal connection;
Fetal heart rate: 140 beats per minute;
Femur length: 4.3 cm;
Amniotic fluid status: 5.3 cm;
Posterior wall placenta;
Bilateral renal separation: 0.5 cm
Umbilical cord(one loop)
The above is my 23-week ultrasound report. Please help the expert check if it is normal. Is bilateral renal separation of 0.5 cm normal?

Doctor's answer:

Under normal circumstances, when a fetus holds urine, renal pelvis dilatation can also be observed during ultrasound examination; once the fetus urinates, the condition of renal pelvis dilatation may disappear. Generally, if the renal pelvis dilatation is within 10 millimeters, it is considered physiological, and there is no need to worry. Regular follow-up ultrasound examinations are sufficient in this case. If the renal pelvis dilatation exceeds 16 millimeters, further examinations are necessary to determine whether the fetus has any developmental abnormalities in organs such as the kidneys or ureters.
