Features: Time flies like the swift passage of the sun and moon. In the blink of an eye, two decades have passed, and the world and China have undergone tremendous changes. The friendship and various friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and Japan have continued to deepen, and the forces of peace and justice have further developed. However, in Japan, there is still a small portion of the population that has not recognized the invasion of China during the war sixty years ago or the crimes committed by Japanese aggressors against the Chinese people during that conflict. They even deny these facts through various means (such as revising history textbooks). This cannot but provoke our strong indignation and also prompts us to republish this book. History is a mirror of the present. Reviewing and summarizing the history of Japan's invasion of China and analyzing and evaluating the trial of Japanese war criminals by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East from 1946 to 1948 aims to deepen the understanding of the younger generation in China and Japan, particularly, of the immense historical disaster caused by that war, and to raise vigilance against the ambitions of Japan's small extremist right-wing forces to restore militarism—because in this war, the victims were not only the Chinese people but also all the Japanese people. Since the publication of this book, numerous academic studies on the Tokyo Trial have been published. These include literary works written from a literary perspective, as well as television documentaries about the Tokyo Trial. Abroad, a number of English-language publications on this topic have also been released. We have paid close attention to and incorporated these achievements as much as possible, and have noted them one by one.
