What are the symptoms of cervical erosion, and how is it treated?

Patient's question:

Leukorrhea with odor and blood, itching downstairs

Doctor's answer:

Early symptoms of cervical erosion:
1. Increased leukorrhea: Increased leukorrhea is the main symptom of cervical erosion and is sometimes the only symptom. Due to differences in pathogens, as well as variations in the extent and severity of erosion, the characteristics of leukorrhea may also differ. For smaller erosion areas or simple erosion involving superficial layers, the amount of leukorrhea may be relatively less. If the lesion affects deeper layers and covers a larger area in severe erosion, the amount of leukorrhea may be greater, occasionally with a small amount of blood streaks or blood, and some patients may occasionally report contact bleeding.
2. Pain: Pain is a relatively uncommon symptom of cervical erosion. When pathogens spread to deeper areas, inflammation may extend from the cervix along the uterosacral ligaments or spread through the broad ligaments, potentially causing chronic parametritis, leading to lower back and sacral pain, pelvic heaviness, and dysmenorrhea.
3. Bladder symptoms: Inflammation of the cervix can spread to the surrounding connective tissue of the bladder through lymphatic pathways or direct extension, even reaching the trigone area of the bladder. This can stimulate the bladder, causing symptoms such as frequent urination and dysuria. In some cases, it may also lead to urinary tract infections, resulting in difficulty urinating.
4. Itching and pain in the external genitalia: Increased leukorrhea can irritate the external genitalia and vagina, potentially causing external genital or vaginal itching and pain due to secondary infections.
5. Infertility: Thicker leukorrhea is not conducive to sperm penetration, so severe cervical erosion can lead to infertility. However, patients need not be overly concerned because cervical erosion is not the primary cause of infertility. Even with severe erosion, it can be treated.
We hope patients come to the hospital for specific examinations and recover soon!
