Vaginitis and adnexitis: What should be done

Patient's question:

I had a check-up at the hospital with the following results: White blood cells +; Red blood cells 1-2; Staphylococcus +; Epithelial cells +.
What kind of vaginitis is this? Later, I was diagnosed with adnexitis. I took medication and had injections, but it hasn’t improved. What should I do? Can it be transmitted to a male?

Doctor's answer:

Hello:
Leukocytes +; Staphylococci +; Consider bacterial vaginosis.
Treatment for bacterial vaginosis:
I. Metronidazole (Flagyl)
Usage: 0.2-0.4g orally per time, 2-3 times daily, for 7 days; may also be administered intravenously.
II. Amoxicillin
Usage: 0.5g orally per time, 3 times daily; may also be diluted and administered intravenously in 2 doses of 6g daily.
Local treatment
I. Frequent cleaning to maintain local hygiene.
II. Regularly rinse the vagina with 3% boric acid or dilute acetic acid, followed by rinsing with clean water to alleviate symptoms.
III. Rinsing with clindamycin solution may also be effective.
IV. Rinse the vagina with "Jie'eryin" or "Fu Yin Jie" internally, once daily or every other day.
Precautions:
Appropriate treatment should be provided for sexual partners, regardless of whether they show symptoms.
Bacterial vaginosis may coexist with other sexually transmitted diseases, and relevant examinations and treatments should be conducted.
